Bellevue Football Club is one of the oldest clubs in Lenasia. The club was started in 1968 by players from Greyville, including the late Raffique Moosa, Nazir Mohamed, Ahmed Khan, Abu Mahmood, Ashraf Hoosain, Fazel Ebrahim, Samad Ebrahim, Afzal Khan, Idris Motalib, Nawaaz Gaffoor, Mossadeque Munshi and Anullah Khan. The manager was Abdur Razak Mia, who now resides in India.
The club celebrated its 50 year reunion at the Nirvana Secondary School on Saturday, April 13. The function was arranged Fazel Ebrahim, Abdul Ebrahim, Nazir Mohamed, Ashraf Hoosain, Saiid Sattaar, Faizal Patel, Bashir Mahmood, Fehmida Mahmood, Fazel Beg, Zaid Haffejee, Abu Mahmood, Riaz Bhikha, Thiru Chetty, Showneez Chetty and Trevor Paul.
The programme included refreshments, music, comedy, football skills and mingling with the old boys from 50 years ago.

Comedy was provided by Senzo Mthetwa, all the way from Durban. This man had the crowd in stitches. Soccer free-stylist, Zain Patel kept the crowd entertained. The guest speaker for the night was Gora Ebrahim, who played for VOB, Pirates and Dynamos. He is also the current principal of Houghton Muslim School.
The reunion was a time to remember the people’s team of Lenasia. The Bellevue flag is still flying high.
All those in attendance received a commemorative booklet depicting pictures from the past and profiles of the founding members. The booklet was compiled and printed by Riaz Bhikha, Trevor Paul and E Communications.
