JAYANT Valab on behalf of St James Preparatory School has taken the initiative to walk from Johannesburg to Durban in a bid to raise funds for school fee subsidies and bursaries so that more children can receive a unique St James education.
“We emphasise critical thinking, so that our children can seek real understanding. I am walking to Durban because I believe in what we are doing at St James Preparatory School. I want to see as many children as possible see their divine sparks lit, and then flourish in the world because of what we are doing together here,” said Mr Valab.
Mr Valab will be walking the 720 km journey despite the small hindrance of walking this distance with a pacemaker. He will be on the road for 3 weeks, starting on August 9th. He will walk six hours daily equating to 30km per day.
“Our mission is to make this a journey of spiritual knowledge, accessible to as many children as possible, and for the St James Marathon Walk to be a success. I would like to see an increasing number of adults and children from our surrounding communities participate in the universal namaste greeting to one another and go on to develop their spirits, minds and bodies through the advantage of a St James education. The ultimate aim is for nurturing lifelong truth, love and service,” Mr Valab said.
