Lenasia School Sport (LSS) is back with a bang under a new leader – Myan “Duggy” Naidoo, Principal of Progress Primary School, who was elected on June 6. His appointment will definitely see sports take its rightful place on the sporting and school calander.
With Naidoo at the helm, learners will once more benefit and Lenasia will witness school sports at its best, again.
The Annual General Meeting was postponed indefinitely owing to the fact that only a few people wanted to serve on the executive. Now an executive is in place and sports will be promoted amongst the learners.
Naidoo said, “We are committed to provide a sporting platform for all learners in Lenasia. We realise that sport plays an enormous role in a child’s holistic development.
“The importance of sports in school encompasses more than just the benefit of physical activity. It gives learners an avenue outside the classroom to increase their self-esteem and mental alertness.”
The LSS will be on track on Thursday, August 3, at the start of the new term, where fixtures in soccer, netball, volleyball and other codes will get underway. It is expected to run until the sports body hosts the finals on Saturday, September 16, at Progress Primary School grounds.
The next meeting of the LSS is scheduled for Tuesday, July 25, at the Park Primary School Hall.
